Which countries should you sell to on Etsy from Türkiye?

A comparison of the US, the UK and the EU for Etsy sellers in Türkiye: where to ship from, duties, return rules, languages and the shopping dates that matter.

If you sell print on demand from Türkiye, the target market to plan first is usually the US, and the UK and the European Union come next, once your shipping, return and price settings are ready for them. The real decision is less about where buyers live and more about where your product ships from, what it costs in total to reach the buyer, and which rules apply there.

This is for new sellers in Türkiye deciding whether to ship worldwide or start with a few countries. A listing's shipping settings, price and return policy decide where you can sell comfortably, and getting them right at the start beats fixing hundreds of listings later.

First decide where the product ships from

Choosing a market starts with choosing a shipping origin. On Etsy, "A listing can only be connected to one shipping profile" and "Each listing can have only one shipping origin" (Etsy Help Center). If you print in Türkiye and ship yourself, every foreign buyer gets an international parcel. If you work with a production partner that prints in the US, a US buyer gets a parcel that travels inside the country.

That one difference changes delivery time, shipping price and customs paperwork, so answer "which country" together with "which product, from where".

The US: a busy shopping calendar and a clear duties rule

Selling to the US means planning around American dates. In 2026, Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26 (OPM), Black Friday is November 27 (Wikipedia) and Cyber Monday is November 30 (Wikipedia). Mother's Day in the US is the second Sunday in May, which falls on May 9 in 2027 (Wikipedia). For gift products, these dates are the backbone of your publishing plan.

For anyone shipping from Türkiye, the rule that matters most is about duties. Etsy's June 2026 update says "Starting July 9, sellers outside of the US will need to account for all of their costs, including duties and import fees", and "If orders are shipped without duties prepaid, they will no longer qualify for Etsy Purchase Protection" (Etsy Help Center). Purchase Protection is the program where Etsy covers up to $250 of a refund in eligible cases (Etsy Help Center), so build that cost into your price from the start. For tax and customs details, check Etsy's help pages or a qualified professional.

Shipping price matters in search too. Etsy's search visibility page says "US listings with domestic shipping prices lower than $6 will be prioritized in search" (Etsy Help Center). That line applies to US listings.

The UK: the same language, a different calendar

UK buyers also search in English, and Etsy runs English (US) and English (UK) as separate site languages (Etsy Help Center). A British buyer will often say jumper where an American says sweater, and writes colour, not color. Giving one of your 13 tags to British wording helps the same product reach both audiences.

The calendar gap is bigger. Mothering Sunday in the UK is the fourth Sunday in Lent: it fell on 15 March in 2026 and falls on 7 March in 2027 (Wikipedia), about two months before the US date. Plan Mother's Day products for May only and you miss the British buyer. For UK-bound parcels, settle customs and tax handling with your carrier and, where needed, a professional.

The EU: many languages and a 14-day return right

EU buyers search in many languages. Etsy's full site languages include German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Polish, Swedish and Portuguese, and Turkish is not among them (Etsy Help Center). Etsy machine-translates listings automatically, and translations you enter yourself override the automatic ones (Etsy Help Center). Only the listing text is translated, not the product, so picture-led designs travel better than English slogans.

Returns follow a clear EU rule. Etsy writes that "Regulations in the EU give buyers the right to cancel or return their orders within 14 days of delivery" (Etsy Help Center), and that EU rules "require some sellers to offer a minimum 14-day return policy" on orders shipped to the EU (Etsy Help Center). Check Etsy's help pages for how this applies to your personalized items.

A practical order to open them:

  1. Open the US with the shipping origin, shipping price and duties cost ready.

  2. Add the UK with the Mothering Sunday date and British spelling in mind.

  3. Add the EU when your return policy fits the 14-day rule.

  4. Watch delivery times, messages and returns from each new market.

Setting prices and currency per market

Sellers outside the US can set different prices for domestic orders, US orders and all other countries (Etsy Help Center). So the duties and shipping cost of a US order can sit in the US price alone. One limit: listings with more than 400 variation options cannot use domestic and global pricing (same source).

If you list in a currency other than the currency of your payment bank account, Etsy charges a 2.5% conversion fee (Etsy Help Center). For sellers in Türkiye, the payment processing fee is 6.5% + 14 TRY (Etsy Help Center) and the regulatory operating fee is 1.67% (Etsy Help Center). Our guide to Etsy fees and currency conversion for sellers in Türkiye works through the math for each market.

Where Alomations fits into this decision

In Alomations, Etsy orders arrive on the orders screen already resolved: the design and variant matched, the buyer's personalization text and photos attached. When you fulfill an order through a production partner, the item cost and the shipping are shown separately before you pay from your balance. Production for US orders is in the US, so a US buyer's parcel starts inside the country. Tracking is posted back to Etsy where Etsy allows it, and all of this is open on every plan, Free included.

The catalog holds Gildan, Bella+Canvas and Comfort Colors apparel, mugs, tote bags, canvas prints and more. Prices are listed per product on the catalog page, and shipping is quoted separately. Price each market from that product cost, plus shipping and Etsy's fees.

Frequently asked questions

Can I write my listings in Turkish?

Turkish is not one of Etsy's site languages (Etsy Help Center). You choose the shop language when you open the shop, and Etsy says you "won't be able to change it later" (Etsy Help Center). For the US, the UK and the EU, English makes sense, and writing Etsy listings when English is not your first language can help.

Should I ship to every country?

Not at first. Start with countries where you know the delivery time and the shipping cost. For the basics of US-bound parcels, see shipping from Türkiye to US buyers on Etsy, and for delivery times, how long POD orders take to reach US buyers.

How do I measure demand in a market?

Start with Etsy search itself, using the words your target buyer would type. Since June 2026, Etsy's Marketplace Insights tool also shows the price ranges of recently bought listings for a search term (Etsy Help Center). For a method, read researching what sells on Etsy before you design.

Does the duties rule apply if the item ships from inside the US?

Etsy's rule is written for sellers outside the US whose orders go to US buyers. A parcel printed and shipped inside the US does not cross the border, but Etsy's wording is about the seller's location, so check Etsy's help pages for how it applies to your setup.
