To calculate Etsy's fees for any price, multiply the order total (item price plus the shipping you charge) by the sum of the percentage fees and add the fixed fees: for a seller in Türkiye that is a 6.5% transaction fee, a 6.5% plus 14 TRY payment processing fee, a 1.67% regulatory operating fee, and a 2.5% currency conversion fee if you list in a currency other than your bank account's. Together the percentages come to 17.17% of the order total (14.67% without conversion), plus $0.20 per unit sold and 14 TRY, with another 15% or 12% on orders that came through Offsite Ads.
A seller in Türkiye pays different rates from a seller in the US. Payment processing is 3% plus 0.25 USD in the US and 6.5% plus 14 TRY in Türkiye, and the regulatory operating fee applies only to sellers in certain countries. A single worked example goes stale as soon as your price or the exchange rate moves, so this guide gives you a formula you can reuse at any price. For a concrete breakdown of one sale, see Etsy fees: what you actually keep from a $25 sale.
The fees taken on every sale
The table lists the per-sale fees for a seller located in Türkiye who uses Etsy Payments.
| Fee | Rate in Türkiye | Charged on | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Item price, shipping and gift wrap | Every sale |
| Payment processing fee | 6.5% plus 14 TRY | Total including shipping and any sales tax | Every sale |
| Regulatory operating fee | 1.67% | Item price and shipping, excluding tax collected by Etsy | Every sale |
| Currency conversion fee | 2.5% | Sales that need currency conversion | When your listing currency differs from your bank account's |
| Listing renewal fee | $0.20 | Each unit sold | When a multi-quantity listing sells |
| Offsite Ads fee | 15%, or 12% for shops past the $10,000 threshold | The order total | Only on orders from an Offsite Ad |
Sources: the transaction, listing, currency conversion and Offsite Ads fees are on Etsy's fees page, the Türkiye processing rate is in the payment processing fee table, and the regulatory operating fee has its own page. Etsy also notes that a multi-quantity listing renews automatically when someone buys part of its quantity, which is the normal case for print on demand. The Offsite Ads fee never exceeds $100 for any single order.
The formula you can reuse at any price
Work in your listing currency. The examples below are for a seller who lists in USD and is paid into a Turkish lira bank account. You need three variables:
T: the order total, meaning item price plus the shipping you charge the buyer (USD)
K: today's exchange rate, how many TRY one USD buys
A: 0.15 if the order came through Offsite Ads (0.12 past the threshold), otherwise 0
Etsy fees = T × 0.1717 + 0.20 + 14 ÷ K + T × A
Step by step:
Find T: item price plus the shipping you charge.
Work out the percentage part: T × 0.1717. If your listing currency matches your bank account's, use 0.1467.
Add the fixed part: $0.20 plus 14 TRY converted at today's rate (14 ÷ K).
If the order came through Offsite Ads, add T × A, capped at $100.
Find what you keep: T minus Etsy fees minus your product and shipping cost.
Take T = $30. Then 30 × 0.1717 = $5.15, and adding $0.20 gives $5.35 plus 14 TRY. If the same order came through Offsite Ads, another 30 × 0.15 = $4.50 comes off, for $9.85 plus 14 TRY in total.
Two notes. The processing fee is taken from the total including any applicable sales tax, so on orders where tax is collected the real figure is slightly higher. And Etsy's fee table does not spell out which amount the 2.5% conversion fee is applied to, so the formula applies it to the whole order total as a cautious estimate.
Working backwards: the lowest price for your target profit
Turn the formula around to find the lowest price that still pays you what you want. Because most fees come off the price itself, you divide rather than add a percentage:
Lowest T = (C + M + 0.20 + 14 ÷ K) ÷ 0.8283
Here C is your product and shipping cost, M is the profit you want per order, and 0.8283 is 1 minus 0.1717. To cover the chance of an Offsite Ads order as well, divide by 0.6783 instead (1 minus 0.1717 minus 0.15). The T you get is item price plus the shipping you charge, and how you split the two is up to you.
This gives you a margin, not a markup on cost. The difference is explained in margin vs markup, and setting prices product by product is covered in pricing print on demand products on Etsy.
Costs that are not tied to a sale
Some Etsy costs land on the shop rather than on a single order. They stay out of the per-order formula but belong in your monthly numbers:
Listing fee: $0.20 each time you publish a listing, which has to be paid regardless of resulting sales. A listing expires after 4 months, and auto-renewal costs another $0.20.
Shop set-up fee: one-time and non-refundable, and in Etsy's words its cost varies by location.
Etsy Ads: charged per click, with a minimum daily budget of $1. Using them is optional.
Divide the monthly total of these by that month's number of sales to get their share per order.
Deposits, refunds and VAT
For sellers in Türkiye, Etsy charges a 42 TRY deposit fee on deposits above the 50 TRY minimum but below the 600 TRY threshold. Etsy offers daily, weekly, biweekly and monthly deposits, and new sellers default to weekly, every Monday. If your deposits are often small, a less frequent schedule helps each one reach 600 TRY, where the fee no longer applies. More in getting paid on Etsy from Türkiye.
When you refund through Shop Manager, the transaction and processing fees for refunded transactions are refunded automatically. On traffic you bring with your own links, Share & Save gives a 4% refund on eligible orders, and Etsy's page lists 6.5% from October 20 to January 4. If you are enrolled, you can subtract that rate from the formula on eligible orders.
On VAT, Etsy says that depending on your business status and location it may be required to collect VAT on seller fees, and that sellers who added a VAT ID are not charged. For your own situation, check Etsy's help pages or a qualified accountant.
The profit view in Alomations
On paid plans, the Alomations profit view shows the profit you kept on fulfilled orders after Etsy fees and product cost. When you fulfill an order through a production partner from the orders screen, item cost and shipping are shown separately before you pay, so the C in the formula is a real figure rather than an estimate. Every credit you spend is itemised, with plan credits and top-ups counted separately. If you prefer to keep the records by hand, our guide to tracking profit per order on Etsy shows how.
Frequently asked questions
What percentage does Etsy take from a seller in Türkiye?
On every sale, 14.67% of the order total, or 17.17% if your listing currency differs from your bank account's. Add $0.20 and 14 TRY, and another 15% or 12% on Offsite Ads orders.
Do I have to pay the currency conversion fee?
Only if your listings are priced in a currency other than that of the bank account you are paid into. If the two match, that line is zero.
Can I opt out of Offsite Ads?
Yes, if your shop has never reached $10,000 in sales in any 365-day period, under Shop Manager > Settings > Offsite Ads. Shops that reach it are required to participate for the lifetime of the shop.
Do I pay a fee when Etsy deposits my money?
Deposits between 50 TRY and 600 TRY carry a 42 TRY fee. A deposit schedule that lets each deposit reach 600 TRY avoids it.
