Set up the shop correctly from Türkiye
You need an Etsy account before you can create a shop. Take your time over the shop language: according to Etsy's guide to opening a shop, you won't be able to change it later. Turkish is not one of Etsy's site languages, so if you are selling to US buyers, English is the sensible choice.
During setup Etsy verifies your identity. It asks for a photo of a government ID that has not expired and a clear selfie, and the name on the ID must match the bank account you add to get paid. Two-factor authentication is required, a one-time, non-refundable shop set-up fee is charged, and you need to add your first listing before the shop can open (Etsy's shop opening guide).
The payment side is straightforward: Türkiye is on Etsy's list of countries eligible for Etsy Payments. The same page notes that PayPal does not operate in Türkiye, so sellers based there cannot accept PayPal. Pick your first products: few and clear
Two or three products are easier to start with than ten. Each product needs its own mockups, its own template and its own price calculation, and a short list keeps the first weeks manageable. Tees, sweatshirts and mugs are a common first set, because one design often works on all three.
For each product, check three things: that it is printed in the US and shipped within the US, that you know its cost and its shipping cost, and that it suits your design style. A bold text design reads well on a tee, while a fine line illustration can get lost on the curve of a mug.
Etsy's rule is clear: using production partners, including print-on-demand services, is allowed as long as the items are your original design. The same page says drop shipping is not allowed, so reselling a ready-made product that someone else designed is off the table.
Make original designs
In print on demand, the design is what you are really selling. Stay away from brand names, cartoon characters, celebrities and sports teams, and use your own words and your own drawings. Pick a niche (teachers, dog owners, a specific hobby) and start with five to ten designs that speak to that audience.
If you generate designs with AI, Etsy places them in the "Designed by" category, but seller-prompted AI creations must disclose the use of AI. Prepare the print file properly from the start too: a transparent PNG at enough resolution prevents blurry prints and the white box that can appear around a design.
Build the first listing field by field
An Etsy listing has a few core parts. The title can be up to 140 characters and should describe the item clearly at the start. You can use up to 13 tags, each up to 20 characters. For images, the same listing guide allows up to 20 photos and 2 videos.
If you work with a production partner, you must disclose it in the relevant listings. Connect fulfillment before the first sale
Know what happens when the first order lands: which design gets printed in which size and colour, how the order reaches the production partner and how the tracking number gets back to Etsy. Etsy says orders for physical items must have a valid tracking number to qualify towards Star Seller.
Shipping profiles have one rule worth knowing early: each listing can have only one shipping origin. A separate shipping profile for US-printed products is the cleanest way to show the right origin and delivery times.
