The finance view: profit after Etsy fees and product cost

The Alomations finance view shows the profit you kept on fulfilled orders after Etsy fees and product cost, and itemises every credit, with plan credits and top-ups counted apart.

The Alomations finance view shows the profit you kept on each fulfilled order after Etsy fees and product cost, so you do not have to rebuild that math in a spreadsheet every week. It also itemises every credit you spend and counts plan credits and top-up credits separately, so your balance always shows its parts.

This is for print-on-demand sellers who look at Etsy's sales total and wonder how much of it is actually theirs. A sale price tells you what the buyer paid. Profit tells you whether a product, a price or a whole niche is worth more of your time. The profit view is part of the paid plans, alongside the Design Editor, your own mockup library and run history.

Why the sale price is not your profit

Every Etsy order passes through several fees before the money is yours, and a print-on-demand order also carries the cost of making and shipping the product. These are the lines that sit between the two numbers:

  • Transaction fee: 6.5% of the order total, and it "applies to the total cost of the item, along with shipping and gift wrap (if you charge your customers for those)" (Etsy).

  • Payment processing fee: a set rate plus a percentage that depends on the country of your bank account, taken from the total including shipping and any sales tax (Etsy payment processing fees).

  • Listing fee: $0.20 per listing, and $0.20 for each additional unit when a multi-quantity listing sells (Etsy fees).

  • Offsite Ads fee: only on orders Etsy attributes to an Offsite Ad, 15% of the order total, or 12% for shops that made at least $10,000 in the past 365 days, and never more than $100 per order (Etsy Offsite Ads).

  • Regulatory operating fee and currency conversion: charged only in some cases, explained in the table below.

  • Product cost: what the production partner charges for the item and for shipping it to your buyer.

The fee lines, side by side

Where you live changes two of these lines, so here they are for a seller in the United States and a seller in Türkiye. Each fee rate comes from Etsy's own help pages, linked above and in the rows.

Here is one order worked through, leaving sales tax aside. A US seller sells a crewneck sweatshirt for $38 with free shipping, and no Offsite Ad was involved. The transaction fee is $2.47, payment processing is $1.39 ($1.14 plus $0.25), and the listing fee is $0.20, so Etsy keeps $4.06. If the sweatshirt is a Gildan 18000, our catalog lists it from $10.90 (read October 17, 2026), with shipping quoted separately. That leaves $23.04 before the partner's shipping charge. Had the buyer arrived through an Offsite Ad, another $5.70 would come off. The full fee breakdown for a smaller sale is in what you keep from a $25 sale.

What the finance view shows you

Doing that sum by hand for one order is fine. Doing it for every order, every week, across sizes and colours that each cost something different, is where sellers give up and guess. The finance view does the work for you: on fulfilled orders, it shows the profit you kept after Etsy fees and product cost, instead of the gross sale.

It fits the way orders already move through Alomations. Etsy orders arrive resolved, with the design and variant matched. When you fulfill through a production partner from the orders screen, the item cost and shipping are shown as separate lines before you pay from your balance, so you see what each order costs to make and ship before you pay for it.

If you print and ship some orders yourself, keep your own note of materials, packaging and postage for those, since only you know them. For a do-it-yourself method across every order, see how to track profit per order on Etsy.

Credits, itemised

Profit is what one sale earns. Credits are what you spend to make listings: a full listing costs about 10 credits from an AI-generated design and about 4 from an uploaded or reused design. The finance view keeps the two apart, and it itemises every credit, so a lower balance is never a mystery.

Plan credits and top-up credits are counted separately because they follow different rules:

  • Plan credits arrive every month with your plan (40 on Free once your Etsy shop is connected, 500 on Starter, 1,200 on Standard, 2,500 on Pro) and roll over up to 3x the monthly amount.

  • Top-up credits come from packs you buy, never expire, and are usable while you are subscribed.

Seeing both numbers, instead of one combined balance, tells you how much of this month's allowance is left and how much reserve you hold. The details are in how Alomations credits work.

Reading profit and credits together

The two views answer different questions, and together they tell you where to spend effort. Profit per order shows which products and prices earn. Credits show what it costs you to put a design in front of buyers. On Starter, $49 buys 500 credits, so a 10-credit listing uses about $0.98 of your plan, and a listing made from an uploaded design uses less.

If a product keeps showing thin profit after fees, look at the price before you look at volume. When and how to raise prices covers how to do that without surprising returning buyers.

Frequently asked questions

Is the finance view on the Free plan?

The profit view opens on the paid plans. The Free plan still includes 40 credits a month once your shop is connected, real orders and the listings manager, with no card required. Plans are compared on the pricing page.

Why is my profit different from my Etsy deposit?

Profit is calculated per order, while deposits follow your payout schedule. Etsy offers daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly deposits, and new sellers start on weekly deposits every Monday (Etsy deposits). New sellers may also have part of their funds held in a payment reserve for a while.

Does the finance view replace an accountant?

No. It is a working view of what each order earned. For tax or bookkeeping questions, check Etsy's help pages or ask a qualified professional.

Do unused credits disappear at the end of the month?

Plan credits roll over up to 3x your monthly amount. Top-up credits never expire and stay usable while you are subscribed.
