Raise prices on Etsy when the numbers say a listing can carry it: your costs or fees went up, the listing keeps selling at its current price, or it sits at the low end of what shoppers already pay for that search. Change prices in small steps on one group of listings first, then compare visits, orders and profit per order over equal periods before you touch the rest.

Many print-on-demand sellers set a price on launch day and never look at it again, even after blank prices, shipping or their fee picture changes. A price that worked a year ago can quietly become a listing that sells well and earns almost nothing. This guide is for sellers with some sales history who want to raise prices on purpose instead of by feel.

Signals that a price can go up

Look for one or more of these signals on a listing or a product type. The last row is a warning, not a green light.

Costs and fees

Start with your own margin, not with other shops. Etsy charges a transaction fee of 6.5% of the order total, and it applies to shipping and gift wrap you charge for as well (Etsy Help). Payment processing is a set rate plus a percent that depends on where your bank account is: 3% + $0.25 in the United States and 6.5% + 14 TRY in Türkiye, for example (Etsy Help). Sellers in some countries also pay a regulatory operating fee, such as 1.67% in Türkiye (Etsy Help).

Offsite Ads is the fee that surprises people. If your shop made less than $10,000 on Etsy in the past 365 days, an order attributed to Offsite Ads costs 15% of the order total, and 12% once you pass that mark, capped at $100 per order (Etsy Help, Etsy Help). A price that only works when the buyer came through Etsy search is too low. Our walkthrough of the margin math for POD pricing shows how to rebuild the number from scratch.

Demand and the price range

A listing that keeps selling at its price is the safest place to test a small increase. To see where you sit, Etsy's Marketplace Insights tool shows price ranges of recently bought listings for search terms (Etsy Help). If your shirt is at the bottom of that range and your blank, print quality and photos hold up next to the listings above you, there is room to move.

If a listing gets almost no views, its price is not the problem, because shoppers have not seen it yet. Fix the photos, title and tags first.

What one extra dollar is worth after fees

Raising a price does not hand you the whole increase, because the percentage fees grow with it. For a seller with a US bank account, each extra dollar carries 6.5% in transaction fees and 3% in processing, so you keep roughly 90 cents of it. The fixed $0.25 processing charge does not change.

For a seller in Türkiye, the same dollar carries 6.5% in transaction fees, 6.5% in processing and the 1.67% regulatory operating fee, which leaves roughly 85 cents. If your listings are in a currency other than your bank account's, Etsy adds a 2.5% currency conversion fee on top (Etsy Help). On an Offsite Ads order, take another 12 or 15 cents off each dollar.

How to raise prices without spooking buyers

  • Test on a group first. Pick a handful of similar listings, raise them, and leave a comparable group untouched so you have something to compare against.

  • Move in small steps. A modest increase you can measure beats a big jump you cannot explain afterwards.

  • Price by size where costs differ. Larger sizes often cost more to produce, so raise those rather than every size at once. See why 2XL and up cost more.

  • Keep sales honest. Never raise a price just before a sale to make the discount look bigger. Our guide to running sales without losing money shows how to plan one around your margin.

If you sell from outside the US, Etsy lets you set different prices for domestic orders, US orders and all other countries (Etsy Help). Listings with more than 400 variation options cannot use this domestic and global pricing.

Changing many prices at once

Etsy can vary price by variation when you switch that option on, and it allows unique prices for up to 400 option combinations (Etsy Help), which matters when you raise only the larger sizes.

For whole groups of listings, use a bulk tool and decide the rule before you click: a percentage on everything in a product type, or an exact new price for one set. Write the old prices down first, so you can roll back if the test goes badly. Our guide to bulk editing prices and tags covers the steps.

How to watch the effect

Compare equal windows: the same number of days before and after the change, ideally away from a holiday spike. In Etsy Stats, watch visits, orders and conversion rate for the listings you changed and for your untouched group.

Then look past the order count: fewer orders at a higher price can still leave you with more money, so total profit settles the test. If profit went up and conversion held reasonably steady, roll the change out to similar listings. If conversion dropped sharply and profit fell with it, step back to the previous price and try a smaller increase.

How Alomations helps you raise prices

The Alomations listings manager shows every connected shop's active and draft listings in one list, with filters across the whole shop. From there you can bulk edit prices by a percent or to an exact amount. It is open on every plan, Free included. Templates also let you arrange prices across sizes once and reuse them for new listings.

On paid plans, the profit view shows what you kept after Etsy fees and product cost on fulfilled orders, so you judge a price change by profit rather than by sales alone. When you fulfill through our production partners, the orders screen shows the item cost and shipping separately before you pay, which keeps the cost side of your margin math current.

Frequently asked questions

Will raising prices hurt my Etsy search ranking?

Item price is not among the factors Etsy's search help page names: it lists tags and titles, attributes, listing quality and customer service (Etsy Help). Shipping is different: US listings with domestic shipping under $6 are prioritized in search (Etsy Help), so US sellers should raise the item price, not shipping.

How much should I raise a price at once?

There is no universal figure. Choose a step big enough to restore your margin after fees and small enough that you can read its effect on a test group.

Can I raise prices only for bigger sizes?

Yes. Turn on price variation for the size option and set higher prices for the sizes that cost more to produce.

Should I raise prices before the holidays?

If you plan to, do it before your busy weeks. You get a cleaner before-and-after reading, and you avoid changing prices while shoppers are comparing listings for gifts.
