A video mockup for Etsy is a short, silent clip made from your product mockups, such as a slow push in on the print, a cut through the colours or a front-to-back turn, uploaded to the video slot of a listing. Etsy allows up to 2 videos per listing, each up to 15 seconds long, so the clip has to show the product, the design and one reason to buy in very little time.
This is for print-on-demand sellers who do not hold stock or samples. Without a physical product to film, your mockups are the raw material, and a well-made clip adds movement to a listing that would otherwise be all stills.
What Etsy accepts for listing videos
Etsy's video rules are short, and they shape how you build the clip. Per its listing video article:
Up to 2 videos per listing. The second slot arrived in a June 2026 update, according to Etsy's updates page.
Up to 15 seconds each. Etsy's own articles disagree on the minimum length, so stay well clear of the short end.
No sound: videos "will not contain any audio once uploaded to your listing."
A resolution of at least 500px, ideally at least 1080px.
A maximum file size of 100 MB.
Common formats, including MP4 and MOV.
Videos sit next to your photos rather than in place of them. Etsy's listing guide allows "up to 20 photos and 2 videos" per listing, so adding a video does not cost you a photo.
Three ways to make a video from mockups
A slideshow of still mockups
The simplest route is to export a handful of mockups and put them into any video editor or phone app, with slow zooms and pans between them. Gentle movement across a still image is enough to make a clip feel alive, and because the stills are your own mockups, the colours and print placement match the listing exactly. An animated mockup template

Filming a sample
If you have ordered a sample of your own product, a few seconds of real fabric in real light is hard to beat. You can mix that footage with mockup shots of the colours you did not order.
What to show in a few seconds
Open on the product, not on a logo or a title card. Give each shot one job and cut before it outstays it.

You do not need every shot. A plain tee with a front print might use the opening frame, a close-up and a colour run. A personalized mug might use the opening frame, the personalization shot and the second side.
Making it work without sound
Because the video plays silent, everything has to be visual. If you add text, keep it to a few words per shot in a large font that stays readable on a phone, and do not repeat what the picture already shows. Hold each shot long enough to take in, and cut on movement so the clip flows rather than jumps.
Treat the first frame as a photo in its own right: it should look good even if the shopper never presses play. The same rules that make a strong first Etsy photo in search results apply here. Export at the resolution Etsy recommends, compress so the file stays under the size limit, and watch the result on a phone before you upload.
Keep it honest
A video built from mockups is still a promise about what the buyer will receive, so it has to match the product. Do not show a print placement, colour or finish you do not offer, and keep any colour grading faithful to the real garment.
