To get ready for Etsy Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a print-on-demand seller, set up your sale or promo code in Etsy's own tools ahead of time, have your holiday listings live well before the weekend, and check that your production partner and processing times can absorb a jump in orders. In 2026 Black Friday falls on November 27 and Cyber Monday on November 30, so the real work belongs in the first half of November.
This is for POD sellers heading into their first holiday weekend, and for shops that ran a sale last year and found the margin gone by Monday. With print on demand there is no inventory to stock, so the limits are different: how many strong listings are live, how much discount your margin can carry, and how fast your production partner turns orders around when everyone is ordering at once.
The weekend at a glance
| When | Date | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Early November | November 2 to 13 | Finish holiday designs, check prices and margins, refresh tags |
| Two weeks out | Week of November 16 | Create the sale or promo code, confirm processing times with your partner |
| Last new listings | By November 20 | Publish the remaining holiday listings so they have time to reach search |
| Thanksgiving | Thursday, November 26 | Decide whether the sale starts today or tomorrow |
| Black Friday | Friday, November 27 | Sale live, answer messages quickly |
| Weekend | November 28 and 29 | Orders count as Friday orders for processing |
| Cyber Monday | Monday, November 30 | Last day of the sale, or a separate Cyber Monday code |
| After the weekend | December | Watch Christmas shipping cut-offs |
The Thanksgiving date comes from the US Office of Personnel Management. Etsy counts processing times in business days, Monday to Friday, and weekend orders count as Friday orders, so a busy weekend lands on your production partner all at once on Monday.
Etsy also runs its own events: its announcements board carried a "Join Etsy's Cyber Sale" post in October 2026, so read the announcement for the dates and terms before joining.
Setting up the sale without losing money
Etsy gives you two main tools. A sale can be a percentage off or free standard shipping, and a promo code can be a percentage off, a fixed amount off or free standard shipping. You can offer "any percentage off between 5% and 75%" of the list price in whole numbers, cap how many times a promo code can be used, and build discounted bundles of up to 3 listings.
Before you choose a percentage, work out what a discounted order leaves you. Your product cost and shipping do not drop when your price does, and Etsy's fees are still taken:
The transaction fee is 6.5% of the total order amount, shipping and gift wrap included.
Payment processing is a set rate plus a percentage that depends on your bank account's country, for example 3% + $0.25 in the United States.
If an order comes through Offsite Ads, the fee is 15%, or 12% for shops that made at least $10,000 on Etsy in the past 365 days, and it never exceeds $100 for a single order.
Set the lowest price you will accept for each product, then pick a discount that stays above it. Our guide to running sales on Etsy without losing money walks through the numbers. If you ship to US buyers yourself from outside the US, Etsy's June 2026 update also applies: since July 9, sellers outside the US must account for all of their costs, including duties and import fees.
Avoid raising prices just before the sale to make the discount look bigger. Returning buyers notice.
Two lower-cost ways to promote the weekend:
Share & Save. Etsy's Share & Save page lists a holiday rate: from October 20 to January 4, enrolled sellers earn 6.5% back on eligible orders that come through their own shared links, instead of the usual 4%. Links sent in Etsy Messages or placed in listing descriptions do not count.
Automatic offers. Etsy's abandoned-cart and favorited-item offers reach shoppers who already showed interest.
Stocking up on listings before the weekend
For a POD shop, stocking up means listings, not boxes. Etsy says a new listing may take up to 48 hours to appear in search results and categories, so anything published on Black Friday morning misses part of the weekend. Aim to have new holiday listings live by the week before.
Add gift-ready versions of designs that already sell: a sweatshirt version of a best-selling tee, a mug version of a popular phrase.
Keep titles clean. Etsy advises naming holidays or occasions in a title only when essential to the item, so "Black Friday" does not belong in your titles. Gift-minded terms in your tags do more work.
If you plan to use Etsy Ads, start well before the weekend. New shops wait 15 days after opening before they can run a campaign, the minimum daily budget is $1, and Etsy recommends running a strategy for at least 30 days before adjusting it. Our Etsy Q4 calendar puts this weekend in context with the rest of the season.
Planning production capacity
Print on demand removes the inventory risk but not the capacity risk. Production partners can get busier around this weekend, and every order still has to be printed, packed and shipped by the date you promised.
Check processing times now. Etsy describes processing time as "how much time you need to get an order ready to ship". It starts the day after purchase and sets the ship-by date you commit to. Our guide to processing time for POD on Etsy explains how to choose it.
Know your fallback. Etsy lets you edit a ship-by date once, before it passes, and extend it by up to 21 days. Confirm with the buyer first.
Keep tracking flowing. For US sellers, tracking is required to complete an order, and orders need valid tracking to count toward Star Seller and to qualify for Etsy Purchase Protection.
Read personalization text before it prints. A busy weekend is when a misspelled name slips through.
Stay on top of messages. Star Seller asks you to reply to 95% of first messages within 24 hours.

How Alomations helps you prepare
The listings manager, included on every plan, shows every connected shop's active and draft listings in one list with filters and sort. Bulk edit changes prices by a percentage or to an exact amount, rewrites tags (up to 13), adjusts variations and sets a publish schedule across many listings at once, and bulk deactivate takes down products you cannot fulfill in time. Use it a few weeks before the sale, so the discount comes off prices you have already checked.
Scheduled publishing queues new holiday listings to go live over the weeks before the weekend. When orders come in, they arrive resolved with the design and variant matched, and you can send them to a production partner from the orders screen with item cost and shipping shown separately. The partner cannot mark an order shipped without a tracking number, and tracking is posted back to Etsy where Etsy allows it. Afterwards, the profit view shows what you kept after Etsy fees and product cost on fulfilled orders. Scheduled publishing and the profit view are part of the paid plans.
Frequently asked questions
Does every POD shop need a Black Friday sale?
No. If your margin cannot carry a discount, free standard shipping, a bundle or a promo code for past buyers can work instead. Decide from your numbers, not from the calendar.
When should my last new listings go live?
By the week before Black Friday. Etsy says a new listing can take up to 48 hours to appear in search.
What if my production partner falls behind?
You can extend a ship-by date once, by up to 21 days, before it passes. Message the buyer first and agree on the new date.
