Etsy views but no sales: what new sellers should check

When listings get seen but not bought, the problem is usually on the listing page. Here is how to check price, photos, shipping and trust signals in order.

When an Etsy listing gets views but no sales, the problem is usually on the listing page itself: the price, the photos, the shipping cost and delivery date, or the trust signals (reviews and policies) are not convincing the shoppers who click. Check those four areas in order, one listing at a time, before you rewrite your tags or add more designs.

This guide is for new sellers who see views in Etsy Stats but no orders. If your listings get no views at all, the cause is different, and our article on why Etsy listings get no views is the better place to start. Views mean shoppers are already opening your listing, so the rest is in your hands.

First, check that the views come from the right shoppers

Etsy Stats shows where visitors came from and which search terms brought them. If the terms do not match your product, for example a shirt for dog owners showing up in cat searches, you collect views from people who were never going to buy. Our guide to Etsy Stats explains what each number measures.

Etsy's advice is to "Clearly describe your item at the beginning of the item title" and to make the title "sound natural" (Etsy Help: SEO tips). A title that does not say what the item is at a glance attracts the wrong searches and loses the right shoppers.

Give the data time as well: a new listing "may take up to 48 hours" to appear in Etsy search results and categories (Etsy Help: creating a listing), and early views are often casual browsing.

Price: look at what the buyer actually pays

Buyers judge the total with shipping, not the item price alone, and a low price paired with a high shipping charge can look expensive at checkout.

To see the price range buyers accept, use Etsy's own data: since a June 2026 update, Etsy's Marketplace Insights tool shows the price ranges of recently bought listings for a search term (Etsy Help: what's new). If your total sits well above that range, your photos and description have to justify the difference. If it sits inside the range, price is probably not the problem, and a discount will only shrink your margin.

Before you lower anything, work out your costs. Etsy's transaction fee is "6.5% of the total order amount", and it applies to the shipping you charge too (Etsy Help: fees). Our article on pricing print on demand products walks through the full margin math.

Photos: do they keep working after the click?

A view means a shopper opened your listing, so your first photo and title already earned the click. If the rest of the photo set does not answer their questions, they go back to the results. For a shirt, buyers want to see the design up close, the product on a person or in a realistic setting, the colour options and a size chart.

Etsy's listing guide allows up to 20 photos and 2 videos per listing (Etsy Help: creating a listing) and recommends photos at least 2000 pixels wide and high (Etsy Help: photo tips). Etsy's Search Visibility page also checks that the primary photo shows one finished product, with no collage, and that it is clear and well lit (Etsy Help: search visibility). A listing with a single mockup gives a buyer very little to decide on. Make sure the colours in the photos match the variations a buyer can actually choose.

Shipping cost and delivery date

Buyers see an estimated delivery date before they pay. If your processing time is long and the date lands after the birthday or occasion the buyer is shopping for, they move on. Processing time is "how much time you need to get an order ready to ship", and it starts the day after purchase (Etsy Help: processing times).

Shipping cost matters too. For US sellers, Etsy says "US listings with domestic shipping prices lower than $6 will be prioritized in search" (Etsy Help: search visibility). That rule is about visibility, but the same shopper reads the shipping line at checkout. We compare the options in free shipping or charged shipping for POD. If you ship to US buyers from outside the US, delivery naturally takes longer, which makes a realistic estimate even more important.

Reviews and trust signals

A new shop with no reviews can make buyers hesitate. You cannot change that overnight, but you can complete every other trust signal: the About section, a clear return policy, complete shop information and fast replies to messages.

Etsy says listings without a return policy can be pushed lower in search, and that a policy should exist even when it says no returns (Etsy Help: Etsy search). Once reviews arrive, your score is "a recency-weighted average" of your star ratings (Etsy Help: reviews), so the care you take with your first orders keeps showing in the months after.

The first sentence of the description is a trust signal too. Etsy says "A person should be able to read the first sentence and know exactly what you're selling." (Etsy Help: SEO tips). If the fabric, print method, sizing and care are missing, many buyers leave instead of asking.

How Alomations shortens the check

Alomations gives each live listing in a connected shop a score: ten checks, each with the fix attached. You see which listings fall short, and why, without opening them one by one, and our article on the listing score and its ten checks explains what each check looks at. The listings manager and the score come with every plan, Free included.

When the problem is the whole shop rather than one listing, the shop report is the better starting point: a scored health check of the shop with an action plan and a PDF, on the paid plans. No tool can promise sales, but both narrow down where to look.

Frequently asked questions

How many views should I get before a sale?

There is no fixed number: it varies a lot by product, price and season. Compare the listing with your other listings instead: if similar ones sell and this one does not, the problem is most likely on its page.

Will lowering my price fix it?

Only if your total is above what buyers pay for similar items. Otherwise a cut shrinks your margin and leaves the real problem (photos, shipping or trust) in place.

Will Etsy Ads fix views without sales?

Etsy Ads show your listing to more shoppers, and "You're only charged when someone clicks on one of your ads." (Etsy Help: Etsy Ads). If views already do not turn into sales, ads mostly buy more of the same. Fix the listing first, then consider ads.

Should I delete the listing and start again?

Usually not. Fix what is missing on the existing listing instead. Keeping the same listing lets you compare its numbers before and after each change, so you can see what worked.
